Here’s post number 600. More then 2 years has gone by since this shitty blog started. Unbelievable bad and expensive punk has been posted. Generic hardcore has been praised. Powerpop has been downloaded in thousands by hordes of japanese melody fans without leaving a comment. And I’m sorry to say that there’s still loads of crap left to post.
When we(the TV Eye // Drummer who left after a year) started this site the two main inspirations was 7inchpunk.com for it’s music and Last Days of Man for it’s layout. 7inchpunk.com guys turned out to be run by a boring brat so the inspiration that the site had provided faded pretty quick. While Joe Stumbles Last Days has continued to be a big inspiration with it’s excellent writing. On the road it seems like 100s of new punk/hc blogs has been pooping up every month. While there are too many of them to mention them all here’s some that I’ve continued to enjoy: Good Bad Music, obviously for the funny and witty writing, great music and for being one of the most frequent commentators here. Erich and I has during the years done some split posts and more will come. Worthless Trash for it’s excellent taste in music and great writing. James needs more hits! 45Revolutions for being a complement to yeah that’s right 45 Revolutions the book. And the list can go on for some time so sorry that I’ve forgotten YOU.
About Last Day… seen some recent trackbacks from Joe and when he recently posted the debut LP of the fantastic and HIGLY underrated Th’ Inbred I had to post their debut 7″ as a complement. Have to agree on Joes reflection “I think this LP represents the closing chapter on the first wave of US Hardcore. It collapses into a pile of self-loathing and disgust.”. On Scene Deat Th’ Inbred already made it clear they soon where about to leave the “HC scene”: “We shout and spit the lyrics out. We know what punk’s all about. We play fast and loud ’cause we wanna be the in-crowd.”. When you listen to this I think you can hear that hardcore used to be non-generic and with a knack for great ideas.

Th’ Inbred – Reproduction E.P. 7″
Monday, June 30th, 2008M.O.G. – Radio Rock E.P. 7″
Wednesday, September 6th, 2006
One of the most underrated dutch HC bands. Maybe cause M.O.G. had wacky sleeves and an original sound. But boy did they put out some great HC! But I think they’re in their prime when they slow it down as heard in the two outstanding tracks here: Walking and King Skinhead. Great!
Due to the mystery of M.O.G I haven’t been able to dig anything up. There’s a discography page at Kill From The Heart but the years are wrong there. Their second 7inch was Crap Rap and released in 1988.
Maybe our friend Niels/Eet U Smakelijk(who ones where in Gepopel who released the amazing Paracide the same year) can give us some info?

76% Uncertain – Live At CBGS 1985 Cassete
Monday, June 12th, 2006
“76% Uncertain was formed in 1983 by members of two other bands; CIA and Reflex From Pain. Both of these bands had released independent 7″ vinyl EPs the previous year.“. One underrated Hardcore band from the mid ’80s. How come? Their first LP “Estimated Monkey Time” got good reviews but they weren’t much talked about. At least not over here. “Estimated…” was spinned alot on my home during the release though it was a bummer to get hold even back then. So here’s a live show I found on a tape back from the tape trading days. Check out 76% Uncertains official site: here. Haven’t been updated since 2004 but… The sleeve you see here is a homemade one I did. Please don’t sell this at eBay.

Maggot Sandwich – Dead To My World E.P. 7″
Wednesday, May 10th, 2006
This killer punk rock 7inch has one of the ugliest cover in my whole collection. Long time since I spinned it but knew I’ve always liked it. I put it on and in seconds I realise I had to record it and post all the tracks here. If this had been released in lets say 1982 it would’ve been talked about alot. A perfect combination of mid tempo snotty punk rock and hardcore. “Vik formed his own label, KML Records and released “Dead To My World” , a great 7″ in 1985. Five hundred copies were made in a single pressing. The band never re-pressed the record because they thought it was crap.”.

Gepopel – Paracide E.P. 7″
Saturday, April 8th, 2006
Along with “White Male Dumbiance” by B.G.K. this has to be among the top 5 Dutch Hardcore releases. What happened to Gepopel after this? Think about this kids:”After searching hard you’ve found a new name/the word may be new but it stils means the same/I don’t want hardcore to be this year’s thing/’cos only the wrong bands will get exposure/Bandwagon men, bandwagon women/You suck, suck, suck ,suck, suck, suck me dry…” from “Bandwagon”. This felt so right at the time and still does. Strange.
