Non Compos Mentis(N.C.M.) - Ultimate Orgasm 7″

As far as I’m concerned few guitarist have used feedback in such a creative way in punk as David Hill of Texas Non Compos Mentis. I have a hard time choosing a fave here. While Ultimate Orgasm just hits you in the face as the obvious hit Twist The Blades tasteful contrast between the calm verse and the catchy chorus is just as hard to resist.

Their second single is not as good as this but not as bad as it’s reputation and deserves a post later on. If we’re talking THE best song by N.C.M. nothing beats the furious Six Feet Under included on the Sacred Cattle compilation. Check it out and listen to the instant drive of the bass drum! Who needs double bass drums ha ha.

Satans Rats - You Make Me Sick 7″

The obscure and unknown stuff is the funniest stuff to post cause hopefully a lot more people will get to hear it and will shake their heads just as I do and think “why wasn’t these guys better known”. Still there’s so much stuff that are quiet known to most of the people visiting this site but still have escaped the radar of many punk consumers. Especially the younger boys and girls cuming ops! coming here I think. Satans Rats might be such a band that many have heard about but never got around listening to. I must say that the discography released a couple of years ago What A Bunch Of Rodents didn’t do much for me. The only great tracks are the ones found on their three 7″s and the mastering job made them sound kind of dead.

Satans first 7″ In My Love For You was posted a long time ago but needs a repost since I only uploaded the b-side. I think this is their second release? The Rats would’ve fitted perfectly on the Raw label. In the same urgent and inspirational vein as The Users, Killjoys etc. Excellent production by Vic Maile who among other things produced Ace Of Spades by Motorhead and gave The Jam their killer sound.

Ladernunnan - Ensam i natt E.P. 7″

Jonas Almqvist the singer of Swedens Ladernunnan/The Leather Nun importance to the early Swedish punk scene can’t be underestimated. He published one the best early fanzines Anarki & Kaos. In the early 80s he hosted Ny Vag a punk radio show who aired 1 hour(or was it 2?) per week in the Swedish national radio channel P3. There you could hear the latest punk/hc acts like Bad Brains, Slobobans undergang, Attentat, Black Flag etc. Sometimes there where bands in the studio doing a live gig. For a young kid that show was as important as your daily play time with your willy.

Here’s the third release from Ladernunnan. Ensam i natt was on their debut “Slow Death EP” but I think this is different recording. Absolutely top from start to finish. Jonas voice raw voice is fantastic. The bass line in the intro is sooo catchy it will have you glued from that moment. A true classic. Here Comes Life is almost as good. No Rule recorded live at a gig opening up for Throbbing Gristle and Monte Cazazza in London 1980 sounds too much Stooges for me, in a not that interesting way. After this EP we went separate ways.

Scumbags - Rob Noxious

Ok, here’s Da’ Man!

Real Name: Guy Robert Archambue
Born: 1969 on the 29th of October.
Lives: Huntington Beach California, USA
Passport says: New Orleans
eBay IDs: old: lewdsnot, zoloft_anaconda. New: thingsdogsdo, amateur_gynecologist.

On the 24th of July 2005 I got a phone call from an American named Kevin. Said he got my phone number through zoloft_anaconda(amateur_gynecologist) on eBay. A well known seller and buyer who seemed nice though a bit slow. Strange that he got my phone number from zoloft_anaconda(amateur_gynecologist) since I rarely gives out my phone number if someone specifically asks for it. Anyway, I’m not the suspicious guy and since I’ve been in bands, arranged gigs, toured etc I’m used to contacts from abroad. I was packing my stuff since I was about to move but had all my records that I traded still at home. I picked him up at the train station in Linkoping/Sweden. He seemed nice though a bit strange and VERY smelly. The strange part showed when I invited him to a practice with my band. He didn’t seemed too eager which I found odd since most people into music that I’ve meet enjoy a rehearsal little now and then, right. When he jumped out of my car he looked very uncomfortable and I asked him why:”People sometimes find me strange.”. I said him not to worry since the guys in the band are very nice. And I didn’t thought about that much since I’ve just meet him and didn’t knew what he went through in his life.

We stayed up all night and listened to the massive amounts of records that he brought with him. We did some trades and agreed to go to The TV Eye // Drummers home the day after. Went there but I forgotten my money so I asked him if he could pay for the pizza we bought as a favor for me buying him some burgers. This incident made deep scars into his mind since he had to say how funny it was that he had to pay for a pizza since he was the guest. This was the first time I thought he was a bit odd. At the TV Eye // Drummers house they started to trade and I was there to help the Drummer so he got somewhat good trades. Rob flipped totally when I said that I could help the Drummer sell 2 7inches that he wanted on eBay instead of doing a trade that I thought wasn’t that good. “Yeah, maybe ONE rich American or ONE rich Japanese would buy them for the prices you think you might get.” I told him he didn’t had to agree and that it was just my opinion. He was still mad as hell and totally changed from the rather severe manners he showed before.

Later that night we had another “fight” over some records over at my house and I had to tell him that YOU DON’T HAVE TO AGREE about what I think that I might get for this record on eBay.

Next day I took him to the train station so he could go to Stockholm. I went home and started doing a search for the 30 7inches that I traded with Rob. Ouch! I found out that he lied a lot(concerning his incredible knowledge about obscure records. He even mentioned a lot of Swedish stuff I never heard of.) about the price of records and that they came without sleeves etc etc. A quick calculation showed that I’ve lost about $1000.00. I started to search my PC for traces from him. Alright, he logged in from my PC as “lewdsnot”(thingsdogsdo) and “zoloft_anaconda”(amateur_gynecologist) on eBay. I did a search on “lewdsnot”(thingsdogsdo) on Google and found Henry Yu’s article from 2002(look for “Tasty Treats” headline) about this guy. What the fuck! The biggest scam artist in the history of punk collecting had visited me. I just had to find him and stop the little sucker. I also found all the different emails he used when using my PC(see picture).

I started doing loads of search on the net and found some pieces here and there. Then I started to correspond with “Fahad” through the “zoloft_anaconda”(amateur_gynecologist) mail address. Fahad Nabhan is a real person. Into Estrus rock and a bit slow I’ve been told by solid sources. This makes it even more disgusting. “lewdsnot”(thingsdogsdo) had always payed with cash but through Fahad, Rob had gotten the ability to use Paypal through Fahads credit card.

I made a trap to get him back by saying I’ve gotten hold of some gems he wanted like the Dirty Rust 7inch. He fell for it and after three days he was back at my house. Since it seemed very clear that this person couldn’t be trusted and had slipped through the net numerous times before, I had to stop him no matter the cost. I shipped him to a suburb believing he would see one of my friends who had some rare records. I told him to wait at the parking lot while I drove to get my friend so they could meet before he let him into his house. Went home instead and went through his luggage:100s of telephone cards, his sketch book with all his anal notes about exactly the time he went up, what he ate, how much he payed for a record and how much he earned when he traded it away, addresses to 100s of people and places. On one of the pages he had written:”Meet Peter(Kevin)–>Meet his friend Ola–>Get Dirty Rust.” He had written “Kevin” so he should remember what name he used when he was at my house. I sent out an email to all his email aliases telling him I knew who he is and that it had to stop. 30 minutes later the police showed up and I was taken into custody for stealing his stuff. I hoped he would’ve gotten back to me but as a result I got hold of his real identity when I was at the police for interrogation. He escaped and gotten his stuff back. I reported him for fraud. Some weeks later on in the UK he called himself Harry.

Terveet Kadet - Aareton Joulu E.P. 7″

Take off the skinny ties and on with the leather jackets. After the sugary sweet and awesome Zoot Alors that I know you all dug we take our knives and head over to Finland. Don’t forget the Koskenkorva! We might need the bottle in a bar fight.

One of the few finnish HC records I’ve keept. Many of them like Kaaos, Bastards, Riistetyt and Rattus just didn’t cut the mustard for me when it was time to clean out stuff some time ago. But Aareton Joulu by Terveet Kadet I just had to keep. So tight(like the ass on the front picture) and desperate. I really love Lajas voice. Screaming like a new born craving for milk. But in this case I think Laja screams for something stronger. The cover fascinated me back then. And what does Aareton Joulu mean? A candle in the ass? If that’s so I love the title. I soon learned that Terveet Kadet meant something like “healthy hands” or “open hands”. Pissaa ja paskaa means “piss and shit” right? I love that too! This is some great paskaa.

Zoot Alors - S/T 7″

Though punk is dead powerpop is alive. One of my most beloved pop records is the only released as demo record by the mysterious Zoot Alors. Former member, Paul Sneap, had a site up some years ago with some demos. Too bad I didn’t download it. I got in contact with him to ask for other stuff but of course there wasn’t any according to Paul.

So pull down your Dis-records in a little box. Put on the skinny tie. The war ain’t coming today. And listen carefully to what Zoot has to tell you. Oh, yeah I got an extra copy to trade/sell in case anyones interested.

Punk is dead

January 30th, 2008 by The Flakes // Drummer

This is so fucking funny. I can’t stop laughing. Hell, I get tears in my eyes while watching this. Steve Ignorant backed up by…hmm Pantera? Or is it Metallica? Look at it. Who thought this would happen in the heydays of Crass worship? Here Steve is taking the piss out of everything they delivered. Time to scratch of my Crass tattoos. Ok I don’t have any of them but some old friends have. Feeding of the 5000? Shitting on the 5000!

This is a re-post from April the 8th 2006. Added more scans and new rips.

The “TVEye // Drummer” posted the Sods LP awhile ago. Now it’s time for the Sods classic first 7″ “Television Sect”. I think I found this one togheter with the two first “Electric Deads” 7inches at Christiania in Copenhagen. They where like $1.00 each. I bought the LP in 1980 and after hearing it I wondered why no one had tagged “Sods” at the walls in Copenhagen. The most frequent band name I saw spray painted was the “Gatecrashers” who released a 7inch which I still haven’t heard.

The Faders - Cheatin’/Library Book 7″

January 29th, 2008 by The Flakes // Drummer

Sew me. I’ve changed the order of the songs. Cause I think Library Book is THE a-side. Be prepared the bas is very loud on this marvelous punk/powerpooper. Cheatin’ is a good 60’s flavored stomper with some sweet back up vocals but can’t really match the high standard of Library Book.

Library Book was featured by James/Worthless Thrash a long time ago. Visit his blog! It’s worth it. And talking about James(or Steve/LDK) I’m sure he/they knows a lot more about The Faders then I managed to dig out from Google. Which is nothing except their inclusion on England Belongs To Me Vol. 2.

Helen Keller - S/T 7″

No matter what folks say or write about how great the Helen (Erich) Keller record is. You’ll never get it until you listen to it. As you might hear it’s not some gutter punks fooling around in the studio. These guys have some real talent and knows exactly what they’re doing. It could’ve resulted in some so so jumping on the bandwagon record but no no they manage to crank out the exact right feeling. I wonder what they wanted to achieve with this release? 200 copies pressed with a white stamped sleeve. Did they just want to hand it out to friends and family to show off that they could play punk too?

Ryan has digged out some info:”The “band” was the demented brainchild of a man who mainly produced commercial jingles for a living, Norman Durkee. Some of Seattle’s persistent rain had obviously soaked through his skull and settled on his brain, and a “speed punk” concept developed. Friends and acquaintances from the “studio scene” were brought in to play.
