Wish I had the time to write something worth reading. But what is there to say? Another one of them best Swedish bands once again. Here’s their second 7inch which in my opinion would’ve been a real killer if they lifted off the two so so tracks on the b-side cause the 2 smashers on the a-side are just that: SMASHERS. Got to run. Got a book to do.

This was the first record I was supposed to post when we opened up the blog. But after doing some googling I found out it had been posted here and there. And it’s still gets posted here http://www.lastdaysofmanonearth.com/blog/?p=5 and there http://www.goodbadmusic.com/2008/04/13/deadbeats-kill-the-hippies-7ep-dangerhouse-records-usa-1978/ but you know it’s one of those records that’s NEEDS to be posted everywhere and as far as I know it’s only here you now get the WHOLE package. It’s been living with me since 1979 and will be one of the last records that will leave my home if ever as long as I may live. Kill The Hippies, with it’s supposedly anti hippie statement but it’s actually a rather clever remark on punks intolerance level and as I noticed now Joe from LastDaysofMan made a remark about in the comment section over at GoodBad: “kill em cuz ya need a scapegoat” ha ha. Kill the Hippies is the hit but I prefer Brainless and Deadbeat cause they’re so far from your typical straight forward punk song. And by the way who in the band sez in the end of Deadbeat: “I never wanna do that song again.”? It’s just incredible how timeless this record is and if you get the chance you must pick up their Live at the Whisky 1978 CD which has a live set plus a demo recording of one their best songs: The year 2000 will turn out okay. I so wish someone could dig out everything this genius band did and release it on vinyl. All hail The Deadbeats from now on and forever, one the best bands to ever walked the earth.

First I want to apologize to Bjorn Johansson who sent me this tape for taking so goddamn long to digitize it and get it up here. Bjorn played bass for IQ 55 for a short period and appeared on this recording. Second I want to thank both Bjorn and Svante Pohl(guitar) for letting me publish it here. IQ 55 who’s one and only record I posted a long time ago:http://www.kbdrecords.com/2006/06/20/iq-55-livet-ar-en-bluff-7/ and definitely needs a repost, where along with Blitzen the crop of the cream of bands coming out from my home town of Linkoping/Sweden. Both IQ 55 and Blitzen came out of the ashes of Linkopings first punk band: Tings of London. So here’s a demo that’s been lying around and it’s a shame this wasn’t released back in the days cause to my ears it’s freaking fantastic. Kind of reminds me of Grisen Skriker here and there but still it just sounds like IQ 55 one of Linkopings best bands ever. Praise them or go to hell. And if I ever see this for sale on eBay or Tradera I’ll send you my Bosnian comrades after you.
