Tyrades – I Am Homicide 7″

tyrades_homicide.jpgThanks to Harrys post of a Tyrades video that I’m going to post right after this I fell totally in love with this band. Hope you people can fill me in about the Tyrades. Haven’t heard anything besides this 7inch and read that the other stuff shouldn’t be as hooky as this. Sure it’s a big nod to old punk BUT this is done with taste and sounds fresh. Fuck The Briefs here’s the Tyrades!

All of their stuff is really great! They’ve got a bunch of singles and an lp, buy it all! Some good cover tunes too and the lp comes with a cool spray paint stencil.

This is very good and I’m going to have to track down some of their vinyl. I listen to your posts at work and if I have to mute it, or pause it when someone comes near it must be punk. If it is poppy enough to be left playing in earshot of others it fails the test. This one passes.

to the best of my knowledge, at least 1 member of this band was originally from Buffallo NY & was in the Baseball Furies. a band ive always heard of, but never actually heard. so it goes, this guy was bored, started jamming with some random dudes, & eventually they all relocated to Chicago. some members girlfriend ended up the singer, and theyve created MAGIC for the last 5 years…theres no words to describe how GREAT & chaotically abrasive they are live…you MUST see them in person!!! i love all their vinyl, but its NOTHING compared to them live…

I’ve also heard about Baseball Furies but never heard their music.

Let’s hope Tyrades show up in Sweden pretty soon. Tell them they can stay at my house and I’ll give them all massage.

Funny timing, I am listening to the local public radio station here in Chicago right now and they are interviewing one of the Tyrades’ members who apparently DJ’s at some local clubs here. They asked him to play some songs on air and he just played some total punk rock which was great.

  6. Tommy Ironic says:

They toured Europe in april 2004 and I followed them for the italian dates. Here’s a couple of shots (just 2!): http://www.flickr.com/photos/tommy-ironic/sets/1499554/
Believe me, man, they’re AWESOME live.
They have also a full-lenght album out on Broken Rekids Records.

  7. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Very very nice shots Tommy!!! I’ll have to add a photo section and a flyers section here.

  8. Joe says:

The baseball furies are amazing. Their American Psycho 10″ is an absolute classic, if you like the Tyrades, you might like the furies even more.

  9. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Hi Joe! I took a visit to The Baseball Furies website: http://www.thebaseballfuries.com

But that didn’t appeal to me at all. Too garage rock n roll for my taste. And I’ve always had a hard time with disorted vocals since it’s mostly sound “forced” if you know what I mean.

  10. Richard says:

Jim, the bass player for Baseball Furies (and ex-Blowtops), formed the Tyrades. (He plays guitar in the Tyrades and has also produced records by Functional Blackouts, Krunchies, etc..) The Tyrades existed here in Buffalo for a year or so (their original drummer was also the drummer from Trailerpark Tornados) until both the Tyrades and Furies relocated to the greener pastures of Chicago. Both original drummers stayed behind (Dave Unlikely from the Tyrades and Dapper from the Furies) so they had to find replacements in Chicago (Frankie and Matt Williams respectively). Other than that, the line-ups of both bands are essentially identical to the Buffalo versions. And for the record, I think the Baseball Furies are more punk than garage. Tyrades rule live. Thank you and goodnight.

Richard, thanks for the info. Higly appreciated! I recognise the name Blowtops. Think I saw a 7inch at eBay some years ago. Kind of powerpopish punk?

  12. Degenerateen says:

Ahh, you found my sweet-spot. All their 7″s are total killers and their lp is the best lp of the 00’s are far as I’m concerned. I’ve listened to the lp probably 150 times. Love it to death. Play their 7″s all the time. I never get sick of them. They cover Mary Monday’s “Pop Gun” and Brat’s “High School” besides other things.

  13. Illinois!

This reminds me alot of Charles Bronson, albeit a little less thrashy or maybe less change ups in the tempo.

I need to move to Chicago, maybe?
