The Offspring – I’ll Be Waiting 7″

offspring.jpgWhat the fuck??? Offspring??? Na na na na na… You’ve heard that idiot song that went mega big. And it’s so fucking bad it makes me want to self explode and fuck a duck.

But here we have The Offsprings first 7inch dating back to 1986 wich actually is quiet good and of course super rare! 500 copies with sleeve and 500 without. I ordered it after reading a raving review of it in MMR.

I’ll Be Waiting is really good except for that pointless middle bridge that don’t serve a purpose except to be annoying. Blackball the flip is good too except for the middle part. All in all this sounds like it could’ve been released in 1980. Classic Southern Californian Punk Rock!

I’ll be interested to take a listen to this since I thought their first LP wasn’t too shabby. I’m amazed at just how crappy they are now. God, their lyrics make me want to punch the radio. And its not because they “sold out” or some such thing- its just because they straight up suck. By the way, did they steal Obla Di Obla Da (sp?) by the Beatles on purpose for that dumbass Job song or was that an accident. It is seriously the exact same song.

  2. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Yepp they suck so hard they would make the best blow jobs in the world. Hey, why don’t they move over to the porn business instead?

It sounds like a totl rip off to me too. But wasn’t the Beatles Obla Di Obla Da a rip off too? I don’t know my Beatles history but I think I’ve heard something like that.

  3. malfeitor says:

Maybe its a “traditional” rhythm that everyone has borrowed. But even the backups that sound like they are through a megaphone or something sound almost exactly like the Beatles song. Its weird, there’s music you don’t like and then there are those bands that make you physically angry when they come on. For some reason the Offspring do that to me even though it sounds silly.

  4. Niels says:

Like you, I bought this record from the band when it came out. It was a breath of fresh air at a time when everybody was going metal, although it sounds almost exactly like early TSOL! I remember telling people when “Smash” came out in 1994: “Yeah, the Offspring, they’re o.k., they’re like TSOL!” Little did I know what they had in store for us…

  5. Stephanie says:

I LOVE this single. I keep telling people that the Offspring used to be really good but no one believes me. Their first album and this single are great!

  6. john y? says:

Is the sleeve on your copy unstuck? All the copies i’ve seen have been.

  7. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Sorry for my bad understanding of english but by \”unstuck\” do you mean unglued? If that\’s the case my copy of the sleeve is glued togheter.

  8. Rob says:

Fun fact: The Offspring themself stuck on the glue for those records as they couldn’t afford it to be done professionally at the time.

  9. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Oh my! I have a copy that the Offspring have TOUCHED ;).

  10. Erich says:

It’s a nice 7″, which I too bought after the MRR review. But frankly spoken: SMASH is way better than this! I simply love that album for its punch. And yes, I’m one of them who always liked THE BEATLES and hated ROLLING STONES (except for one or two songs).

  11. Efrem Jose Cedillo aka E-from Chicago says:

I would rather stick a red-hot nail through my dick than to listen to the Offspring…and …Bon Jovi too

  12. Erich says:

    I don’t believe you.

  14. Pk says:

Offspring used to be considered an Agent Orange / TSOL rip off band in 1986. They looked like a speed metal band.

  15. K Chica says:

The whole neocon persona they are preaching today is nauseating. Income aside, it is in their music and their compassionless ethics that they seem bankrupt.

  16. Chata Ortega says:

Ha-Ha-Ha! just read the Mike Rush characters post. who is this moron? disgruntled, dissatisfied and what have ye that begins with dis, he seems to be. can’t comment on the record though, cos i aven’t eard it, lucky me?!

  17. Robert Melville says:

I find this to be great, but I also love ‘Smash’. Smash is seriosuly a great album. Go ahead and bash em all you want, but The Offspring are an amazing band and Smash is amazing too.

  18. GOD is RAD says:

You’re the first time I’ve ever listened to Offspring. OK, except those middles like you said. Always on target.

  19. EBOB says:

I was subjected to countless rounds of the Offspring’s popular album drifting out of my younger sister’s bedroom while I was in High School. I never thought it was horrible, just not all that great. And I was sick of the goddamn repetition!!! But I am leaving this comment to point out the similarity to an earlier band that I noticed years later. Listen to ‘Bloodstains’ by Agent Orange. Hear the guitar solo? Now listen to ‘Come Out and Play’ by Offspring. Hear the similarity?

  20. Diego says:

No me parece extraño que coloques música comercial en tu blog, conciderando que tienes plagado con propagandas tu página. Lo lamentable es que ganas dinero con esto, y el blog es de contenido punk…

    Una mierda

  22. Jay Thurston says:

This record reminds me of the first T.S.O.L ep….it is a classic So Cal record to say the least. I suppose I am pretty fly for a white guy???

  23. zach says:

i hate offspring except this. i heard this on tony hawks pro skater 4 and from their i got this.

  24. Nathan.G says:

Wow! They actually made something good?

  25. Nathan.G says:

One time I saw Offspring at a music festival and I was busy having fun when this girl starting pushing me (I am not into violence against women so I made myself limp). She kept pressing her hands into my chest about fifteen times, until we were about 200m away from the action. I turned and walked away.
