First band out here that sent us some 7inches. The wonderful Boys Club. Reminds of some old lost recording of one of those old Aussie bands The Victims or News. Sloppy played done the right way that adds that special touch. The touch of we don’t give a fuck! I absolutly love this record and so will you. A classic to come. If I have to pick one song it has to be the title track though every song rules.
EDITED on the 1st of September cause Steve of Boys Club wrote this to me:“One thing though, since the record is almost sold out, can you please remove the buying info from the post? We keep getting orders from people who see it on your site that send the money without checking our myspace first…”

Mixed feelings here. First off, they should keep the songs shorter. And second: Isn’t it a bit creepy to hear music made in 2006 that sounds like it could be from 1978? I know, I know – same rant from me over and over again. I’m sorry. I shut up now. (til next time)
After listening to it a couple more times I agree that the songs could be somewhat shorter. It can be creepy but at the same time as long as a band manage to pull it through with the “right” feeling it works for me. But of course I would love to hear more bands like the Tyrades that manage to draw influences from the past but spit it out in a fresh way.
You’re right bout the TYRADES, Pedro. Even though I’d never really play them on my stero thinking “fuck me Jesus!”, compared to BOYS CLUB, they have their own qualities. Can you tell me why I love SOCIAL DISTORTION so much? Their latest LP was so great even though it’s complete travesty.
PS: And the cover of this 7″ here. I mean – c’mon. Get a fucking haircut and a shave.
SOCIAL DISTORTIONs latest record = travesty??? wow…..well, its slower yeah but it still has some upbeat killers on it, right!? Really one of the GREATEST bands of all time if ya ask me…ok, i just noticed this is getting off-topic…anyway…just my 2 cents
I love it too, Highway – but c’mon, if you look at it closely, it’s silly. The lyrics alone and that Mike Ness dude – ludicrous.
Oooops, off topic …….
hmm, whats wrong with mike ness? if you ask me exactly what a front man should be like….and its quite a voice, huh!?
dont see problems in the lyrics either…i mean its not that theyre 14 anymore ya know…
Yeah yeah Socail Distorion zzzzzzzzzzz lets talk about Boys Club instead.
Mixed feelings here. First off, they should keep the songs shorter. And second: Isn’t it a bit creepy to hear music made in 2006 that sounds like it could be from 1978? I know, I know – same rant from me over and over again. I’m sorry. I shut up now. (til next time)
How is it creepy? Bands have always been influenced by bands that came before them. I don’t like bands that try to sound too retro but what the hell are bands supposed to play these days: electro techno polka or somethin.
You old people are cranky and weird
Imagine, Troy, if the Sex Pistols (or The Clash or Africa Korps or whoever you want to name here) would have sounded in 1976 like music made in 1946 …. Being influenced is not copying.
I hate to chime in about my own band, but for the record I couldn’t copy the Victims’ songs even if I wanted to! I’m far too poor of a musician for that! However, I’m very flattered that we’d be compared to them, as I love that band!
If you must know, when I wrote the first song on the single, I was actually trying to rip off the version of the Real Kids’ “Who Needs You” from the Live at the Rat LP, and I failed miserably. It was also the first song I wrote in my life.
good record but boy its hard to sell 7″s when the whole thing is on the net before people even get them in the mail…
Hi Reatard! Anyway we can help you out? Maybe a banner at the top here? Whole 7inches will not be published from new bands who send us records in case they don’t ask for it. In the beginning I got to so excited about promoting new bands(from my own collection) so I published every song just to get older bastards to realise there’s great new stuff going on too.
Reatard, check the edited info of this post. As I hoped and assumed this post actually helped the Boys Club to sell their stuff.
yeah, good record! i didn’t know that the boys club were like this…
Oh, no biggee. We (the band) wanted all the 7″ tunes on KBDR because we don’t give a fuck. (Plus we love the idea of this website with a passion.) C’mon, when it comes down to it, the kit-and-kaboodle, shlameel-shlamazel, and the whole sheebang-ie is IN the vinyl. I mean, downloads scheelamloads. After you’re done doing that it’s either you’re sticking with the mamsy-pamsy i-tunes computer jukin’ putz-futz…or you’re ready to join the tossin’ 45s on a record player – like you’re throwing darts on a board – big boyz club. Anyhoo, whatever. Has anyone heard the Whoopie Cushions? Now THEY had the right idea.
The Pistols sounded like music from 1972(Dolls and Stooges, Faces too). Are they creepy?
hey, this is fuckin great!
repress the 7″ & ill buy one
I LOVE this record. sounds so raw. I had no idea this was a current band the first time i heard it. CAN’T KNOCK ME DOWN!
