A timeless classic. Here’s a german sleeve variation. Who designed all these great looking german sleeves from bands like this, XTC(Science Friction), Buzzcocks, Ultravox etc?
Incredible how such a powerful and naughty voice could come out of such a little girl.
Some people think that little girls shall be seen and not heard. But I think…Oh bondage up yours! 1 2 3 4!
Bind me tie me
Chain me to the wall I wanna be a slave
To you all
Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more
Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more
Chain-store chain-smoke
I consume you all
Chain-gang chain-mail
I don’t think at all
Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more
Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more
Thrash me crash me
Beat me till I fall
I wanna be a victim
For you all
Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more
Oh bondage up yours
Oh bondage no more

One of the best groups that came out of the British punkscene! Their album is, as you all know, a bloody masterpiece and haven’t aged at all. They were quite alone with “heavy metal” guitars, without sounding bad, at that time. Me and my mate met Poly on Oxford St in 1982. The “mistlur” had turned Hare Krishna but I guess our punk attributes turned her on and we had a good couple o’ hours long chat. And went to our hotel in our new orange outfits, shaven heads and tambourines.
You had turned kkkkkkrishna, Senap?
No, we just turned our bomberjackets inside out and mugged the bitch on her instruments!! :-)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Great band and yes this is a beautiful picture sleeve!
A true classic! Anyone heard Mari Elliot’s (Poly) pre-Spex solo single “Silly Billy”?, never heard it myself but I believe it’s really bad!
Never heard it but I saw that it was included on the “Let’s Submerge – The Anthology” dbl CD, released by Castle a couple of months ago. 52 trax, looks like something I’ll have to buy in the near future…
I remember finding a used copy of the X-Ray Spex record in a really shitty mainsteam music store. Got the 2nd Clash album that day two. Took it to the counter and the clerk said both albums were great. I agree, they’re tops. Remember spending months listening to the X-Ray Spex lp while eating my cereal before going to school each morning. Good memory. Check out Poly in that Punk: Attitude movie Don Letts did. She looks so suburban and clean.
I’m from Germany, but i’ve never seen this sleeve before. Great!! songs are great too.
I actually like the b-side better than the a-side, allthough (spelling?) both songs are absolute killers!
I’m intrigued by this sleeve version too – stupid me but is that a real zip on the front (that would be very cool!) or just a design?
Hi Rich,if you are looking for a record sleave with a real ZIP on it ,look no further than the Rolling Stones album ‘Sticky Fingers’
The cover was the crotch of a pair of jeans and the inner sleave was the under pants, so when you pulled the zip down you could get a glimpse of briefs…a rolling stones underwear….PUKE
Sexist!
Yihupa!

Dammit, I need to put some X-Ray Spex on my blog so that Poly Styrene leaves a comment there!
And guess wot, Erich? I’ll have to watch my language if Poly’s gonna supervise this blog…
That’s essential logic?

One of the best bands ever.
man this is good. thanks so much.
I didn’t understand the “Oh cancer! Up yours!” tweet until a couple of days later.
Poly Styrene got a nice obituary in a publication seldom read by the dangerous classes–I only saw it because it was the only non-Spanish thing to read in the waiting room at the free clinic. Later a doctor told me I better stop doing drugs or, well before 53, I am going to die of a heart attack!

I felt a fondness thinking of Poly “searching for ‘young punx who want to stick it together.'”
its a tragic.im a cliche.
R.I.P Poly Styrene. I still love you. :*
What kind of shit-suck world do we find ourselves in where we’re alive and Poly Styrene isn’t?!
So stupid..
