The first press of this classic HC/Punk compilation didn’t come with the inserts that later versions did.
Void: It’s Void ya know! Awesome and original US HC. Remember having a snippet of Condensed Flesh at the end of the Finnish Punk Ei… compilation tape and it fucked with my head for a long time before I knew what it was.
Husker Du: It’s Husker Du ya know. Awesome and original HC before they went more poppish which I love too. Bricklayer is from one of the best if not the best Live LP ever made Land Speed Record.
5051: Yeah oh well.
Rebel Truth: One of the best and most original US HC bands ever. EP tracks here are different recordings. Reagan Youth is the worst track on here. Ouchy!
Personality Crisis: One of Canadas finest punk/HC bands ever. What a great singer. You’ll either love or hate his voice. Wonder What They’re Thinking is my fave track on the whole comp. Swinging rocky HC.
Sin 34: Cool teen HC. Not too interesting.
Violent Apathy: Great HC yet a little too generic that reminds me a lot of the first White Cross 7inch posted earlier.
Dogs Of War: This is what Gentle Men Of Horror became after their great 7inch. Really good but not as good as GMOH.
Articles Of Faith: Have been a long fan of AOF. But this is a big disappointment. Articls Of Faith is an ok song. The rest is too boring.
Die Kreuzen: Different recordings then on the Cows And Beer 7inch. Awesome!
Double O: Not in pair with their EP yet is an ok DC HC song.
District Tradition: Waste of space.
Toxic Reasons: From their first War Hero 7inch. Great song!
U.X.B.: Oh no!

Ahm, how was that on the post before – powerpop rules, fuck hardcore, or something? hahaha. KILLER comp. reminds me on your daddy in a way. wild and dirty.
Fuck powerpop HC rules! Or if it’s the other way around. I don’t know. I hate powerpop, punk and hardcore(not hc movies though).
Rebel Truth always sounds great, even after all these years. The rest is….
I though it was hilarious at the time when you would see all of these Sin 34 stickers around town upside down almost spelling out “penis”.
I don’t know if it was intentional or not.
yawn… cardiac kidz please…
I love the Bricklayer song! That was how to open a fucking show….pure mayhem. That was my favorite album growing up.
what do you mean 5150 – yeah, oh well?
Their EP is so classic!!
Glad you like it “wasted youth”. I don’t. different taste. no big deal.
holy crap I have’nt heard 188.8.131.52. since 82, had that single, when there were only 7 punks in my H.S. also had a local sd band tape comp. called “our blowout” with social spit, district tradition, men of clay, skullbusters, manifest destiny, personal conflict, the front i forget what all was on it right on good times man. f*ck we’re old.
WTF IS UP WITH PPL PUTTING SHIT ON YOUTUBE, TOTALLY COOL FUCKING VIDEO’S AND THEN TAKING THEM DOWN. YOU FIND SOMETHING REALLY COOL, AND THEN THE ASSHOLES TAKE THEM DOWN. I HATE THAT SHIT.
In case anyone cares, UXB changed our name to SUBURBAN MUTILATION shortly after this tape came out, when we found out about the Northern California band of the same name ((and the Milwaukee band of the same name, and…)). Thus we are not they.
Hey, tell me please, El Salvador Stomp is from demo or something? I have the “THE OPERA AIN’T OVER TILL THE FAT LADY SINGS LP” but sound quality is different than this.
Great comp, thanks for posting this! If you like Personality Crisis, I just posted ‘Creatures For Awhile’ on my blog with the alternate tracks from the UK reissue.
I was hoping you had the 2014 album that has a better sound quality :(
Nah why? This is the original release. Far more interesting to hear how it actually sounded.
