Yet another band featuring the great Freddie Wadling on vocals(and synth on Tank pa doden by Terminalpatienten). This time it’s Rukorna. The most famous of their two songs here is Folkmelodi with their remake of the Swedish national song. But I prefer the second track Ruset. Infectious moog sound.

I was very fascinated by the photo of Freddie. He’s the bald guy to the right. “Wow and old man playing punk. That’s so cool.” I don’t know if he would’ve had the chance to join a band today looking the way he looked.

Terminalpatienten has to be one of the earliest bands that manage to put 13 tracks on to one side of a punk 7 inch record. I know Seems Twice(Australia) have 12 on their 7inch which is from 1980 too.

One of the most unique bands in the early swedish punk scene. Consisting of only vocals and guitar(Rukorna helps out on Han e) and with an unmistakable twisted humor found in the first wave of punk. My favorite track is still Elephantpojken which makes me laugh my ass off everytime. Check out Terminalpatienten on the web: http://www.terminalpatienten.se.

I bet Senap can fill us in on more information about these two Gothenburg bands.

    Yes, I can try, Peter..
Other members in Rukorna were LOB from GBG Sound/Troublemakers etc and Malkolm from GLO. I think that just after this EP were recorded, LOB went to the pawn shop with his guitar so he could get the cash to pay for the studiotime. Meanwhile the other mebers of the 2 bands had to hold the engineer as a hostage. I dunno if “Ruset” was a GLO-song from the beginning but later on it was included in their set (and on their album) Mats J in TP wrote in the famous GBG fanzine Funtime and the second half of TP, Grodan, were in the original line-up of Attentat. What’s left to say…? Other than this is a classic EP!! And a great post, dude

That was an incident w/GBG Sound.

  3. Senap says:

Yeah, one of us are probably right there… But since I’m not demented and this EP with Rukorna was LOB’s project, then I can’t see why he, as a singer, will have to pawn HIS guitar when GBG Sound were a five-piece band with 2 guitar-slingers. But you are probably more informed than me…. and in that case I’m sorry
But an other thing that accured during this recording was when it was time mix the songs, the engineer (Mr Rander?) could only find 12 trax with TP. After a while they found out that he thought that “Instrumental sÃ¥ng” were a piss-take and not a full song. Wonder why….

yeah, I´ve been always fascinated by early HC and punk bands who played faster than another act in their era, or had a big amount of songs on their 7″ EPs, NEOS´both seveninches are good example what I mean. Could you also post that afforementioned aussie band from ´80? It would be great…thx.

  5. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Yepp Stinky the Seems Twice is coming up.

  6. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Hey Senap, thanks for some tasty info :).

  7. petter says:

Speaking of the way mr Wadling looks, have you seen the Lazy Cowgirls? Saw them live in stockholm in 95 (?) and three out of five (4?) members looked that way, can´t say they didn´t rocked either…

Saw Pere Ubu last week and David Thomas looked exactly like Freddie, only a bit bigger.

But I see The Flakes point!

Don’t have to be sorry :-) i was told the whole incident by LOB himself.

  9. Senap says:

OK, bolt2, LOB has probably done that before, but to you who understand Svenska, here’s something that’s taken from the Svensk Punk 25Ã¥rs site:

Maybe it wasn’t a pawnshop so I rest my case..

  10. Grodan says:

I guess LOB remember things incorrectly then, bolt2. Senap is correct, almost… me and LOB went to Waidele to sell his guitar. I was there…

The sooner the make Tank Pa Doden the new Swedish national anthem the better – I would stand up and salute to that song any day of the week.
