Fega Pahopp – Parlor at svinen 7″

Progressive punk released on a progressive label? Yeah baby, Sweden had loads of these bands with one foot in the progressive field and the other in the punk swamp. I’m pretty sure some of you will hate this, but I think they were truly amazing and in a league of their own. Parlor At Svinen starts out pretty slow and very progressive but ends with some of the greatest in tune screams ever recorded in Sweden. Halla Masken is a true master piece with one of those great guitar riffs that sounds so familiar and easy and at the same time brand new and fresh.

According to a friend of mine the original cover photo was all four girls jumping out of the bath tub completely naked, but that label choose this censored version instead. Damn those progressive cowards, damn them straight to hell!

Thanks. They are in a “league of their own”, that’s for sure. I can’t say any more, because I am trying to be nice. :)

Pearls before Swines, eh. Hmm, I was expectingsomething different when I read “progressive”. To me, this sounds rather regressive, childish, harmless and silly. Yeah, I know, the shit I listen to ain’t much better :-)

  3. Vom says:

The first song is horrible Martin! The second song is good Martin!

Other nice stuff there as well

There’s an unfortunate Laurie Anderson quality to this, though looking at the cover I can’t imagine they’d have been interested in a flagging rock star as lame as Lou Reed. (However I could see them interested in the virile drummer of the Raped Teenagers!). Still this is a fun record!
