By looking at the art of the back sleeve you’ll get a hint that this band might had something to do with Electric Eels. An guess what? Guitarist John Morton was in the Eels and You’re Full of Shit is an old Eels track. All this and a little bit more I learnt by searching the web. Isn’t it an amazing time we all live in.
The flip was comped on KBD Vol. 9 but I think 1980 is nearly as great. Love the intro when the bass comes in with it’s sounding-like-a-bee-swarm-pumping. Excellent! And not only was Morton able to write great songs. He was a good photographer too. The front cover is taken by him and maybe it’s his mother lying there naked and waiting for her son to jump her?

Wow this is great! Really original, hectic and pretty violent if you ask me. Never heard this 7″ before but remember having seen it on many trade lists long time ago. Then again, I’m sure I wouldn’t have liked it that much in my younger days, cause this is music for adults. Killer post, Peter!
PS: I think, yes I THINK you SHOULD remove the “Emo” keyword from your ads, hahaha. This is really GROSS, seeing all these “Emo” ads here :-D
Ha ha the word EMO is not in the google ads channels that I’ve made. Don’t know why it shows up. Maybe it gets lumped together with the word punk or hardcore? Or sad, scared, wimp, spineless and some of the other keywords I use for my channel.
This is music for every time in your life!
But not for emo times!
But not for emo times!
PS: That guy “Pope” is a total emo. What a whiny bitch.
sweet post, one of my favorites from back in the day(they all were really). nice bob crane x-out on the record too. wonder if they put it on pre-dead or post-dead “bob”? i’m to lazy to check. and when are you gonna post “the blisters” 45, “fast food” er sumptin like that? it’s a good one, really. thanks again.
Thanks Jeff! Niels over at the sadly defunct Eet U Smakelijk has posted The Blisers:

Hold your horses! No more comments please. Just download the shit and skip the comments! Yeah that’s what keeps us motivated over here haha.
“John Morton’s Mom on the front cover”- LOL! Funny! John Morton went to high school in Lakewood, Ohio which was is about 10 minutes from where I grew up in Cleveland. It is so amazing that he and the Electric Eels recorded their prime blazing stuff in 1975! “Agitated” is one of the best songs EVER. Quite a crazy bunch the Eels were- the liner notes for the stupendous 1992 “God Says Fuck You” reissue CD (which was a reissue of the “Having A Philosophical Discussion With…” LP from 89) details some of their exploits. There were several other Eels reissues since then. The A-side of this 7″ is just called “A” and not “1980” so you better fucking fix this or else! :) I think the 1980 reference on the back of the sleeve just refers to when the record came out. The big perv Bob Crane from Hogan’s Heroes was killed in 1978- their was a movie about 6 years ago highlighting his freaky side called “Auto Focus”. One of the members of X-X was Michael Weldon who went on to write the “Psychotronic Movie Guide” book in the early 80’s. The other X-X record, the “No Nonsense” 7″ (another Electric Eels cover) has very cool artwork but “You’re Full of Shit” 7″ is better IMHO. One more thing- John Morton was part of the infamous Johnny and The Dicks whose LP in 1980 was just a sleeve and had no record inside of it– anyone have a copy they want to give to me for free/trade?
One of my most beloved commentators: Tony! Thanks for all the insight and I’ll correct the title cause I don’t want you to hurt me ;).
Thanks! I am biking again now that the summer is here and my strength has recently doubled, so watch out!
What a great single! The A-side is a killer, so original and fresh, so isn’t the title! Maybe not? Just love this “adult” music. thanks!

the real shit. long live the electric eels. long live x-x. please post the other single they made.

I never did have this single, but I still have the No Nonsense/Approaching The Minimal With Sprayguns single. X-X has always been one of my favourite Cleveland bands of yesteryear, along with Easter Monkeys, Baloney Heads and, of course, the obligatory Dead Boys and Pere Ubu. The cool thing about that era was that it seemed everyone played with each other in different bands. I graduated from Euclid High with Jim Ellis, one of the guys in this band. He’s also the guy who started CLE magazine, one of the first fanzines to include music with the mag. I also still have one of the first flexidiscs he put out, with Pere Ubu, Cool Marriage Counselors (another Dave E group between Electric Eels and Jazz Destroyers), Lucky Pierre, Modern Art Studio, Foreign Bodies and The Clocks.
I still cant get enough of this record and X-X. diggin it more than the eels, with the bass and such. Is there anymore X-X out there we dont know about on here?
