I slagged the Local Anesthetic compilation CD cause of it’s poor mastering job but that didn’t piss smoochrecords off at all! The nice guys sent me the newly released Bum Kon CD which compiles tracks that where record at the same time as their classic Drunken Sex Suck 7″. And what a great CD this is!!!! The mastering job is fabulous! The 7″ songs sounds great on here. Just like the vinyl version. And the rest of the tracks they record… oh man. You need this BAAAADDD! If these was released as an LP back in 1983 it would’ve been a classic up there with all the greats like Jerry’s Kids, Scream, F.U.’s, Circle Jerks and then you fill in the blanks. Smoochrecords aren’t afraid that this CD would be available for free in it’s whole here and it won’t. You need to buy this and you’ll do it NOW! Hmm, I don’t want to be the asshole here – but don’t these songs sound really “digital”? Apart from that – ripping stuff, indeed. A bit generic maybe, but that’s not bad for HC.
Yoww…..it’s odd to think these tracks were recorded “at the same time” – were they planning an LP back then of which the EP was a taster? I had the “Drunken Sex Sucks†EP but really didn’t rate it apart form the title track which is a ripper – these tracks are much more consistently great though. Bad track selection 1st time round I think – you’re right – I DO need this!
And as I’ve not posted before but watched this great website for a year or so, keep up the great work Peter. Now then, on the subject of Swe-punk when will you post up the great Livin’ Sacrifice EP – http://www.swedishpunk.com/records.php?id=1342 – ? Cheers, Charlie

My friends, Legion of Death, and I use to hang out at the record shop where these guys worked in Denver. We saw them do an amazing show when they opened up for Motorhead at the Rainbow Music Hall (R.I.P.). Bum Kon ruled that show. I mark that moment in time as officially ushering in the cross over movement, where punks and metal heads danced and moshed together in true leather and studs glory. Buy this record it’s amazing document in underground rock history.
