Traste & Superstararna – Pengar/Traktor 7″

Give it up for some timeless farmer punk and sing along to their anthem Pengar. Then flip your mp3 player over, put on your finest vest and clogs, put lots of Brylcreme in your hair, roll down the windows in your Impala 59 and cruise around to the sweet 50’s influenced Traktor for over 5 minutes. I know Peter does it as often as possible as he can’t get enough of long songs about tractors.

TSS were huge in their hometown and according to the Encyclopedia of Swedish Punk (that I will refer to in every upcoming post by the way) they could easily draw 800 people to a show there! Very impressive I must say.

The band did a surprisingly good LP as well and a great power pop ep before they split up in 1983, and for those of you who wants to hear more without spending any money on the original releases you can pick up the brilliantly titled compilation Du din javla sopa from Massproduktion. Now head over to their myspace site for some more info on these proud province punks.

Hello again. I wanted to invite you and your readers to my new social network that I have created. It’s similar in appearance to myspace (minus all the hormone-crazed teenagers), but it is intended to serve as a hangout for artists, musicians, and music lovers. I have also included a forum category for music bloggers such as yourself to promote their blogs and share updates. If you are interested, here is the url:

I hope to see you there. Take care.

Is it true ANNA from the first single is no more with us ?

  10. Absolutely brilliant. Superb.
I´ve seen them live back in the 80´s (and Traste´s second band, Traste Lindéns Kvintett were excellent as well).
The album is a top record. I recommend it. A bit hard to get though.
The singer, Mats Lindén, interviewed me once on behalf of the local radio station, Radio Gävleborg.
His father used to draw “Staffan’s Stollar” in Expressen, a Swedish daily “evening” paper.

I love this EP but it is clearly for me! I am not fond of vests but I sometimes wear clogs (as an amateur self-vasectomist, I am a sort of a doctor and deserve to wear foot-wear popular with the American medical profession), every morning I generate my own “Brylcreme” (at least I did after my testicles healed, though sometimes it lands in the hair of my better half), live in a hick town in New England (there is no other kind) and ride around town on a two-wheeled version of a 1959 Impala (a ’50s-era Norwegian Svithun, which is heavy as a tractor). Thanks for the post, comrade!

So these guys could not decide if they were raggare or punx? In any case, side A is a ripper!!
