Chronic Sick – S/T E.P. 7″

It’s the cutest boys from New Jersey here. Just as great, snotty and I hope provocative as their 12″ posted awhile ago. I have a hard time figuring out what they sing about in Reagan Bands but some parts makes me think and hope they’re taking the piss out of all the anti-Reagan songs that where as mandatory for the us hc bands as anti-war lyrics where for the Discharge clones(and they’re still here. please kill them all.) floating around in Europe as little crust turds. Crotch Rot is the best song to me. But you tell me if that song couldn’t just as well be D.O.A. at their heights. Blood Type:X great but quiet a standard song done as if they’ve read Hardcore For Dummies Part One.

By the way both the CS logo and the Mutha Logo must’ve been done by the same guy and it’s some of the ugliest shit I’ve seen when it comes to punk logos ha ha ha. Awful but funny!

    Thanks.

  2. The Flakes // Drummer says:

    You´re welcome.

  3. Thanks too. Why oh why is it that I cannot totally love Chronic Sick? Because I missed the opportuniy to pick this up at a regular price when it was still available? I dunno :(

  4. Geoff says:

Thank you SO much for a good rip of this! Now if only someone will finally rip the Fatal Rage lp!

  5. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Must be something else Erich. With that reasoning you wouldn´t love your Jack and the Rippers or any of those NWBHM records you´re buying :).

  6. Damn, Peter, you’re right. But what is it then? I normally love these harsh, kinda metallic sounding HC bands. Guess I need to get the 12″ and 7″ and then I will love them. :-)

  7. MechaStalin says:

Hey, you wouldn’t happen to have a really high res scan of the cover handy would you? As ugly as it is I want to throw a Chronic Sick shirt together.

This kicks ass, but I’ve got to say I like Cutest Band In Hardcore a bit better. Crotch Rot makes it all worth it though.

  8. Javi says:

I absolutely love every single song this guys put out; I agree that the 12″ is slightly better than this (in fact,”Reagan Bands” might be the worst song in the Chronic’s catalog, while still being a pretty good song). And yeah, when I heard “Crotch Rot” some time ago- out of one Something I learned today website post, I guess- I thought exactly the same: early D.O.A. first class songwriting (up there with “World War 3”, “The Enemy”- to whom it kinda bears some resemblance-, “New Age”).
About “Blood Type-X” (covered, but by no means improved, by Career Suicide), I find it to be a perfect example of the archetypal pre-crossover Hardcore punk song of the 1980-83 era (like, for example, The Worst’s “time zone” EP, or The Freeze’s “Guilty Face”). My favorite song in this 7 inch.

On a note aside; is there any possibility of posting F’s “You are an EP” in the near future?
I’ve been trying to buy that one, but since Sound Idea close down, it’s been an impossible (or really pocket-emptying) task.

  9. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Yes, Javi the F 12″ is in the posting que :).

  10. Hurry with posting it, Peter, it’s in my queue too ;-)

  11. The Flakes // Drummer says:

Let’s do a double post. I post song 1,3 and 5. You take the rest and the front sleeve.

  12. simon says:

I like this 7″ a lot better than the 12″ these guys did, as good as that is. I think Reagan Bands is easily their best song. Can’t say I hear any D.O.A. influence in Crotch Rot though. And I agree, the band logo and the Mutha logo are spectactularly ugly, at least they didn’t use any skulls though.

  13. The Flakes // Drummer says:

The sound of DOA in Crotch Rot is so OBVIOUS it’s silly Simon :).

  14. Jay Thurston says:

Holy shit! Crotch Rot sounds like the Enemy by D.O.A…I’ll be damned!

  15. simon says:

OK, I just went back and listened to The Enemy, and maybe I can hear a resemblance that I hadn’t noticed before, and I think that’s one of DOA’s better songs and was about the only song I recognized when I saw them play about 10 years ago, that and Class War, the rest was all boring new stuff.

  16. The Flakes // Drummer says:

I was thinking about the Fatal Rage LP Geoff. I know Erich been thinking about ripping it. To be frank I think it kind of sucks so I won’t post it. It’s out there if you care to google a bit.

  17. Jay Thurston says:

Don’t be Frank, just remain Peter!

  18. I will rip & post it soon. In the meantime, I’m trying to find me a VILE LP too. That’s the much nastier version of Fatal Rage :-)

  19. Geoff says:

Jump & Die is a good song. Vile is definitely better though. What a great fucking lp.

P.S. Here’s a link to a good rip made from my copy of the F 12″

Sorry had to remove. Spam filter fucks with it.

    : )

  20. Monger says:

Seems the band with original members is doing a reunion show in NJ with the Nihilistics i think

  21. toki wartooth says:

  24. Richard says:

sorry but not soooo good…I think it is sooooooooooooooooooooooo gooooooooood!

  25. Aaron says:

I have a sealed copy of the Vile LP. If you’re interested. I’ll bet the smart money that you do too, but if you want, let me know.
