Parkas Pop – STOPP!!! Har du inte hort talas om… 7″

The only reason to post this record is to let Japanese and other 70’s/ 80’s mod collectors know what it is they’re willing to pay big money for on Ebay, as this is one of more pricey Swedish mod releases. I can see why people are willing to pay lots of money for the Moderns, the Vertex and Mops, but the only reason to pick up this record is the very funny, and modwise very surprising lyrics to Nar jag blir stor.  How many mod bands had lyrics about their desire to be homeless alcoholics when they grew up? Not exactly clean living under difficult circumstances if you ask me.

Maybe it’s not exactly correct to call them mods, as they look really scruffy and way too “punky” on the live collage on the back of the sleeve compared to the cool mod pose they do on the front. And then there’s the music… Slick and too well done, and a singer who just as well could have joined a dansband! In my opinion Nar jag blir stor could have been pretty OK if it wasn’t for the really annoying slow acoustic parts of the song that just sucks. Spela pa is not funny in any way at all, it’s just a boring ska song that easily could have been adopted by Vikingarna.

The sleeve is suppose to look like this, but a previous owner of my copy didn’t like the oversized sleeve, so he, or she, decided to cut off the top of it. Stupid moron!

Haha, I used to do this too with the oversized sleeves: I just cut them down to a “regular” size. Incredible, innit? For instance, I cut the top of the first Urban Waste 7″ I had.

I’m “glad” you posted it Martin. If someone was willing to pay me to bring Parkas Pop into my collection I would consider it.

  3. Erich says:

I wasn’t man enough to listen to the soundfiles. Are they very, very bad?

  4. Martin says:

I told you it sucked, didn’t I? Not worth the $ 150- 250 it’s been sold for a few times, but if anyone’s willing to pay me big bucks for it, I’ll sell my copy.

Their second effort is even worse, and its boring too. “Semester i Polen”.
