De Hojte Hale – S/T E.P. 7″

Though I lived in Malmo/Sweden for 6 years as a kid and worked in Denmark for 4 years and consider my danish above average I ain’t got a clue what De hojte hael or Drukmas means. What I do know is that is one of the more interesting danish bands, along with Iceage, I’ve heard in recent years. While being influenced by old stuff they manage to crank out some pretty interesting, great and original tunes. Just listen to Drukmas(drunken seagull?) and the incredible clever bridge and super catchy chorus backed up by a singer who’s voice I just love. Rovguitar(Assguitar) follows the same path 4/4 beat rock n roll with a super cathy melody. The only song that falls out of the limb is UFO but it’s saved by some important lyrics. And thank god their lyrics stands out too. Ner smager De Hojte Hale som best? Hvaergang!

  8. Holy shit, this EP is so great!! I finally got around to listening to it. I felt like I was back in a time warp to 1979! The only track that is not 100% great for me is the last one, “Ensom”. But still not a bad song. Hope their LP and new 7″ mentioned in some above comments are as good as this EP.

I picked up the LP the other day – at a bargain price! I guess I am lucky that there are still places to get interesting music around here. I just found out recently that the shop where I got my first Discharge, Husker Du, Sex Pistols, Ramones, etc records has closed. It got cleaned out of nearly all of it’s stock of punk/hc years ago, mainly by Japanese and Europeans, I got told it was a French guy who took most of it. The dollar bins were still good for crazy weirdo shit though…
