It’s been way too long since we posted someting from our beloved eastern neighhbours, so here we go with the great 3rd 7″ from Kollaa Kestaa. Share your knowledge in the comments as I’m too lazy to do any research. This one kicks some serious melodic ass!
Country:Â Finland
Year: 1979
Label:Â Poko
Format: 7″
Songs:
Kirjoituksia kellarista.mp3
Kuumat raiteet.mp3
Here’s a juicy tidbit: the A side of this 7″ is featured on Powerpearls Vol.2!
Here’s another even more juicier tidbit: This 7″ is being reissued maybe next month by the great SVART records.
Maybe my favorite finnish punk 7″
The links are dead and I can’t see the pictures of the record neither.
I don’t know what happened but they worked yesterday. Now it’s fixed.
The album cover looks cool.
Decent single. Their album featured several UK punk covers originally by Magazine and the Adverts, and several guest saxophone spots by none other than Lora Logic of X-Ray Spex / Essential Logic fame, who had some Finnish heritage.
Thanks for posting this. All releases from Poko rekords are interesting. Frankly – it’s my favorite label. They where bombing great singles from 1978 to 1983. I wonder what would have happened with the finish kbd scene without Poko – maybe something like Norway. As many great finish band, Kollaa Kestää are from Tampere (Tammerfors) which seems to have a great scene. Not surprising it’s very industrialized city, good for cultivating great. It’s kind of Gothenburg but without the sea. However they speak Swedish in Tampere. They made a fun EP before this with cool song title like “Johnny Rotten Go-Go†and Ramones & Stravinsky. That s worth listening to. As John write they made some covers as well. I like their Magazine cover (it’s someting with the finish lanuage) – sorry about the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sus6iJ-WvNg
Thanks kbdrecords for this– it started to get a little bit ping pong USA vs Sweden in the recent posts!
I like this quite a bit–especially the B-side. It sounds like they were stabbing there zits with switchblades and the guitar is weirder!
The evil laughs at the end of the b-side are awesome.
Never leave this please.
Greetings from Spain.
How about something new now? I could live with à post from Portugal…
I’m digging this single a lot. And as a big fan of all things Lora Logic, I’d really love to hear the full album mentioned above.
