Gyllene Divor – S/T E.P. 7″

You know, there are rare records that you see at auctions from time to time, and they’re always really expencive, and then there are rare records that you never, ever see for sale. This is one of those that you never see for sale. I don’t know if it’s because it’s wanted by lots of football fans from Stockholm, thanks to the song “Ni har ingen tunnelbana” (You don’t have any subway) that the Stockholm fans use to sing to mock the visiting teams, or if it’s simply because it’s great! I guess it’s greatness will get lost if you don’t speak Swedish, as they lyrics kills every other bands lyrics in their brutal, but still so naive way. Funny and clever at the same time. Musically it’s as fey as you can get, which suits me just perfect as I’m known to be a sissy.

I wish I had the time to do a proper translation of the lyrics, but I know I don’t, and I can’t do them justice as too much will be left out no matter how hard I’d try. Anyone’s willing to give it a shot is more than welcome.

The name written by hand on the back of the sleeve is the previous owner, who also did the layout for the sleeve. Way better than band members doing their doodling on the sleeve.

  1. Woo hoo, another Swedish record I have never heard of before- thanks for posting!

  2. Martin says:

Hahaha, I’m fakking stoopid, Bosse (who did the writing on the sleeve) was not just the guy who did the sleeve layout, he was also the drummer in the band! Don’t know how I managed to miss that when I wrote the text about it. First time I’ve seen a member of the band hand write his name, address and phone number on a record where he/ she/ it was a bandmember. Maybe he was afraid that he would loose his one and only copy on his way home from the pressing plant and wrote his address on the sleeve just in case.

  7. Thanks for this post. I heard the “subway” song but never reflected on who made it and that is was an EP. That’s the song which is doing this 7″. I guess however it even more fun for us Scandis understanding the lyrics.

Fantastic music, another band from the suburbs, sad that they not mentioned in the swedish punk Encyclopedia. For me, there are pure. Full marks. Great post!!!
