Repost: first published 8th of September 2013. Added new rips.
It only took took me 7 years to get this classic USHC wax up on the blog. Higly unique and maybe that’s why it’s kind of underrated? I guess it’s a either love or hate record. I love it. I love the soft and dry sound. The lyrics are somewhat more than your typically HC band too. The subjects are recognisable but RT ads a bit more deepth to the tiresome subjects of war or the capitalist society. “Trickle down is trickling on. The shanty drone and ghetto pawn. A military “option” for the poor. Painted into a corner, your guns at the door.”
Here’s the first press that RT released themself. Ain’t got a clue how many copies they pressed. Later re-issued by Version Sound.

Excellent EP, but i have to say that i like their demos even better. Especially the second one is a blend of 60’s melodies and powerful SoCal HC. Halfway between Modern Warfare, Urinals and T.S.O.L. On the liner notes of the Anthology CD on GTA recs they talk about how they were bothered and provoked because of their lyrics. I guess that back then there were a few dumb punks who were jealous of the depth and intelligence showed by a bunch of teenage kids. Aaaahh, the good old mindless drunk punx!!! :-D Thanks also for this gem, Pete. It seems like you’re in a posting rush!! ;-)
I’ve got a “new” turntable and an excellent phono pre-amp so I’m in a ripping mood. At the moment I’m ripping Willful Neglect-Justice for no one 12″.
And if anyone can put in the directions of the RT disco I would be grateful since I haven’t heard it.

I’ve just realized that there isn’t any infos on the tracklist so here we go: Tracks 1 to 5 – demo 1982, Tracks 6 to 14 – 7″ EP, Tracks 15 to 33 – live somewhere in Canada 1983, Tracks 34 to 39 – demo 1981, Track 40 – aired on Rodney On The Roq and later included on the “Not So Quiet On The Western Front” comp. 1982.
Can’t download ’em. What am I doing wrong? Pressing “Download” button but at second page they’re disabled.
You aren’t doing anything wrong, Pete. You can’t download the tracks, you can only listen to ’em (by pressing “listen to full track” on the first page). In order to download the tracks you’ll have to buy ’em. It sucks but it’s the only site where you can listen to all the tracks for free. Every other site that i’ve tried (mostly blogs) has the downloading links disabled.
You’re right, the new pre-amp is a big improvement! Lots of punch in those rips. Cheers.
There was definitely something slightly different to Rebel Truth even though they were basically a hardcore band. I love their track on the MRR comp. Excellent lyrics, too!
Thanks for posting this, it’s been a while since I listened to the whole EP. The awesome GTA comp CD from ’95, “All For One, One For All”, had the song “Unscene Effort” on it and I dig that tune a lot.
After 32 years we once again have our master tape in hand. Luckily it is in perfect condition. It’s currently being re-mastered by one of the best engineers in the business, but no idea what will come from this little adventure. The improvement is crazy good, but it needs more EQ adjustments – though no Pro-Tools trickery. The muddy sound of the single was our mistake alone as studios back then rarely had sub-woofers, and being young punks, we refused to let the engineer mix it. I hope we will release a 12 inch 45 on 180 gram vinyl. Tune in to the FB page for more info. I’m not moderating that anymore, but any announcements will be made there.
