On the 24th of July 2005 I got a phone call from an American named Kevin. Said he got my phone number through zoloft_anaconda(amateur_gynecologist) on eBay. A well known seller and buyer who seemed nice though a bit slow. Strange that he got my phone number from zoloft_anaconda(amateur_gynecologist) since I rarely gives out my phone number if someone specifically asks for it. Anyway, I’m not the suspicious guy and since I’ve been in bands, arranged gigs, toured etc I’m used to contacts from abroad. I was packing my stuff since I was about to move but had all my records that I traded still at home. I picked him up at the train station in Linkoping/Sweden. He seemed nice though a bit strange and VERY smelly. The strange part showed when I invited him to a practice with my band. He didn’t seemed too eager which I found odd since most people into music that I’ve meet enjoy a rehearsal little now and then, right. When he jumped out of my car he looked very uncomfortable and I asked him why:”People sometimes find me strange.”. I said him not to worry since the guys in the band are very nice. And I didn’t thought about that much since I’ve just meet him and didn’t knew what he went through in his life.

We stayed up all night and listened to the massive amounts of records that he brought with him. We did some trades and agreed to go to The TV Eye // Drummers home the day after. Went there but I forgotten my money so I asked him if he could pay for the pizza we bought as a favor for me buying him some burgers. This incident made deep scars into his mind since he had to say how funny it was that he had to pay for a pizza since he was the guest. This was the first time I thought he was a bit odd. At the TV Eye // Drummers house they started to trade and I was there to help the Drummer so he got somewhat good trades. Rob flipped totally when I said that I could help the Drummer sell 2 7inches that he wanted on eBay instead of doing a trade that I thought wasn’t that good. “Yeah, maybe ONE rich American or ONE rich Japanese would buy them for the prices you think you might get.” I told him he didn’t had to agree and that it was just my opinion. He was still mad as hell and totally changed from the rather severe manners he showed before.

Later that night we had another “fight” over some records over at my house and I had to tell him that YOU DON’T HAVE TO AGREE about what I think that I might get for this record on eBay.

Next day I took him to the train station so he could go to Stockholm. I went home and started doing a search for the 30 7inches that I traded with Rob. Ouch! I found out that he lied a lot(concerning his incredible knowledge about obscure records. He even mentioned a lot of Swedish stuff I never heard of.) about the price of records and that they came without sleeves etc etc. A quick calculation showed that I’ve lost about $1000.00. I started to search my PC for traces from him. Alright, he logged in from my PC as “lewdsnot”(thingsdogsdo) and “zoloft_anaconda”(amateur_gynecologist) on eBay. I did a search on “lewdsnot”(thingsdogsdo) on Google and found Henry Yu’s article from 2002(look for “Tasty Treats” headline) about this guy. What the fuck! The biggest scam artist in the history of punk collecting had visited me. I just had to find him and stop the little sucker. I also found all the different emails he used when using my PC(see picture).

I started doing loads of search on the net and found some pieces here and there. Then I started to correspond with “Fahad” through the “zoloft_anaconda”(amateur_gynecologist) mail address. Fahad Nabhan is a real person. Into Estrus rock and a bit slow I’ve been told by solid sources. This makes it even more disgusting. “lewdsnot”(thingsdogsdo) had always payed with cash but through Fahad, Rob had gotten the ability to use Paypal through Fahads credit card.

I made a trap to get him back by saying I’ve gotten hold of some gems he wanted like the Dirty Rust 7inch. He fell for it and after three days he was back at my house. Since it seemed very clear that this person couldn’t be trusted and had slipped through the net numerous times before, I had to stop him no matter the cost. I shipped him to a suburb believing he would see one of my friends who had some rare records. I told him to wait at the parking lot while I drove to get my friend so they could meet before he let him into his house. Went home instead and went through his luggage:100s of telephone cards, his sketch book with all his anal notes about exactly the time he went up, what he ate, how much he payed for a record and how much he earned when he traded it away, addresses to 100s of people and places. On one of the pages he had written:”Meet Peter(Kevin)–>Meet his friend Ola–>Get Dirty Rust.” He had written “Kevin” so he should remember what name he used when he was at my house. I sent out an email to all his email aliases telling him I knew who he is and that it had to stop. 30 minutes later the police showed up and I was taken into custody for stealing his stuff. I hoped he would’ve gotten back to me but as a result I got hold of his real identity when I was at the police for interrogation. He escaped and gotten his stuff back. I reported him for fraud. Some weeks later on in the UK he called himself Harry.

Went to school with Rob at Huntington Beach High School from 83′ to 87′ (same age/class). Always a bit weird and quirky, but had undeniable punk music knowledge credibility. I knew he was a collector, but I lost touch with him after high school and had no idea that it became his life’s work/obsession. He always fronted with this odd faux-tough guy persona, but was really quick to back down when he realized he was out-gunned (which was almost always). I can attest to the smelly comments – smelly feet/smelly body. It wasn’t that noticeable until you were stuck in a room or (even worse) a car with him for long periods. We were on the HBHS Model United Nations team (of all things), so we took some pretty long road trips together. He just smelled. . . sour. The worst was when he started getting car sick one time and decided that the best thing to do would be to throw up in his hands on then eat the vomit so that nobody would notice. Great idea! The entire van soon smelled like the dumpster between a budget Italian restaurant. Everybody else almost puked and the program adviser was so disgusted/pissed off, he almost threw Rob out of the van even though we were still a good 4 hours from home. Sounds likes he burned a lot of bridges in this community – I hope his substitute teacher career is thriving at least!

Met Rob a few times when he door stepped me in the early 90s during one of his Euro road trips. Over the years as tales of Rob’s wider behaviour came out it almost began to feel like some perverse right of passage or that you’d been ‘made’ as a bonafide punk record collector to have been tracked down by Noxious and his stinky feet. A special club. A select naive few.

I can confirm a couple of things. The overwhelming stench of sour feet and him taking no issue in taking advantage of his host’s generosity. Never once offered to pay/tidy up or even just bathe. This being so at odds with all the other music related guests I’ve had over the years. I can also confirm a bizarre ‘schoolboy’ attitude towards women (I’m disrespecting today’s kids as I think the are more progressive than Rob) and again this was really at odds with your average punker. He gave the impression of someone who had not spent a lot of time around potential suitors (girls?) and that he may have missed a matriarch figure in his life. Or perhaps I just read him all wrong and he was really just covering up for something else which is his massive OCD. Whatever it was it probably related to records in some way as that’s all this guy ever talked about. When he mentioned family it always revolved around his Dad and to bring it all in full loop even his Dad once brought him to Europe to indulge his teenage son’s obsessions. I recall being sceptical that he not only remembered where and what he bought but the prices he paid – Cough Cool 50 quid Portobello Road etc. All markers which flagged this guy up as just plain ‘odd’.

I often wondered what happened to Rob, sticking out like the sore thumb as he did, which is when I stumbled across this blog. It amazes me that he’s still so active but at the same time it makes perfect sense as this is all this guy has. I doubt many prospective wives/husbands/pets could keep up with this level of OCD and in a way I feel a little sad for him. Twenty years from now he’ll leave behind two things; a pile of expensive records and a legacy of shadyness. It’s those flaws in his persona(s) that people will remember not the vinyl he managed to wrangle.

Anyway, the last time he called he wanted me to go out of my way to accommodate him and I felt zero guilt in saying NO. Plus my partner would have killed me had I let those smelly feet in the house again.

Does anyone know how to reach Rob? I’d like him to “tutor” my teenaged daughter.

i don’t know if this story has already been shared. if it has, i apologize, if not here goes. i met and made friends with a record collector who was rob’s old collecting partner. this threw up flags, but after talking to him at length, i realized despite being associated with a scumbag like Rob, he was essentially a good dude who learned some REALLY bad habits from Rob that make him almost impossible to deal with. He told me a story from when he was still Rob’s partner. One day, Rob, who was probably around 35 at the time was still living with his father. His Dad told him that the day had come and that he was selling the family home. He said the property was in escrow and that they had to be out by the first of the month. Reluctantly, Rob packed up all his stuff and managed to find a place and slowly moved his belongings to his new abode. His Dad was also packing up his own stuff the entire time. Rob moves out and doesn’t even offer to help his Dad move. Cut to a couple of weeks later, Rob just happens to go by his old house and……wait for it……his Dad is still living there. The whole thing was a ruse to trick Rob into finally moving out of the house. The Dad resorted to getting a sign put in the yard, and packing up the house just to get the son out of the house. When I heard this, it ranked as one of the funniest stories about people who live at home too long. I hope it’s true, because after reading some of the posts here, it seems like Rob has some serious karma coming his way. They’re just records………

If anyone one has issues with rob then consider trying to get him removed from, just select one of his items(ilenedover) and report it, all his stuff is mainly there to solicit trades anyway even says so on every listing he does..fee avoidance and steering people away from discogs invoicing is supposed to get you banned
might work if more than one person draws attention to robs aka ilenedover activities
might save a few newer collectors from getting added to robs address book

Just as a side note… I was performing as and publicly known as Rob Noxious for a number of years both before and after the abovementioned guy… don’t know if he “appropriated” it or came by it independently… but I’ve had a few folks call me an a-hole for things he did in places I’d never been, to people I’d never met… mind you, I’ll take ownership of things I’ve actually done, but… 🧐🤨 for the record: started using that nom de Punk in ‘78, was doing ‘zine journalism (Ripper and others) regularly by’80, first proper gigging band (Rejectors) in late ‘80… Gigs (Rejectors, Brandy of the Damned, Abracadaver) and Punk Journalism in SoCal from’81 regularly until early 90s… just wanted to set the record straight…
