Never been a fan of their mediocre LP. This EP on the other hand is one of the best records Mutha Records ever released. What an amazing production! Reverb all over the place and badly tuned instruments. The intro to Destroy the Fad…that bas ha ha. The whole song is a goose bumpy ride. And if that wasn’t enough they get totally out of control on Do the Gilly. I don’t know if they fucked it all up on purpose or if they where drunk/stoned or whatever and juste stumbled on the mixer knobs to create this higly unique sound. Total classic!

Nice choice! I have loved this whole EP from start to finish since the first time I heard it many years ago. And I agree with you that their LP is totally mediocre. But what’s funny is that the LP came out first, and then this EP which breaks the rule that a band’s first release is their best. I think that the weird production and the “bumpy ride” was one of those happy accidents-type of situations that are always enjoyable. For some reason the bass intro in “Destroy The Fad” sorta reminds me of the intro to the sloppy 60’s classic “To Find Out” by The Keggs. Your sleeve looks to be somewhat fragile- is it printed on a thin grade of paper? I ask because my sleeve has a glossier finish to it and is printed on thicker paper.
It sure breaks the rule about the first being the best :). The sleeve is glossy but the paper ain’t that thick.
Of course, Pete. Also i have always thought that the best song on this stunning EP was “Destroy The Fad” and not “S&M”, which is still a good song but can’t compare with the youthful angst and the total rejection of social acceptance oozing from “D.T.F”. Thanks as Always. :-)
I totally forgotten to write about S&M. I love it as much as Destroy the Fad.
But you shouldn’t like it, Pete!!! “S&M” it’s a song about sex and you know that HC punks are NOT supposed to have any sex drive!!! :D
I always thought being a hardcore punk was about fucking as much as possible? Or else why the name “hardcore” and “xXx”????
Huh?!? i thought it was about being sexually frustrated tough guys with lots of tattoos and crewcuts… how I could have been so wrong all this time? :D
Too slick production, and still that’s what makes the EP a keeper!
Love this – esp. Destroy the Fad. Thank you!
Super cool record I love it from start to finish great job guys would love to hear more stuff by them.
