You’ve been searching all day long for the perfect 1979 Donchester punk compilation LP of more or less obscure bands and all of a sudden you find it here. New wave from the heart LP. A few of these tough sounding bands had more releases under their belt, but I’d say they’re all more or less unknown to the masses none the less. The Vice Squad is not the Vice Squad you’re thinking off, The Negatives are not the Negatives of Stake Out fame and neither are the Squad that band that did the Red alert 7″ and featured future Specials member Terry Hall etc.  So I guess you I can say that most of these bands are pretty obscure, or at least as obscure as this LP is rare I guess. 1000 copies pressed, but according to most online reliable sources only 200 copies or there about was ever sold while the remaining copies ended up in a garbage tip in 1990 when leabel owner David Moffitt got tired of having them stuffed under his bed. This should at least be an explanation to why it rarely turns up for sale.
One of my favorite collector friends who wants to remain anonymous (don’t worry Daniel Dellemyr, I won’t mention your name here) introduced me to this compilation a few years ago with the words “This is the best UK punk compilation ever made”, and I’m tempted to agree with him, but I won’t as there are so many UK comps I’ve never heard (Sad day we left the croft anyone?), and probably loads of great comps I’ve never even heard of. Still I can say that this is a really great comp and every song is more or less a winner. but I won’t make any recommendations, but instead let you listen through the album and share your favorites in the comments instead. If not you’ll just end up as lazy twats who’ll get used to me picking out the raisins for you.
This one was reissued in the late 90’s, so if you can’t find a copy of the original, make sure to get yourself a copy of the Crash edition instead as it has the same songs on it. Such a great idea to reissue it that way! Crash is also the label that gave us the magnificent Beez compilation “Do the suicide” that’s also well worth picking up.

Had never heard this one before. Totally great, THANKS!
Thanks for posting! I needed some better rips of this comp.
Shit this IS new wave! They Don’t Care is the tits!!
Ok, it took me quite a while to go through all this. Was it worth it? Yes, for the most part. I really can’t stand Negatives and The Squad, but the rest is pretty good, especially The Diks. Thanks for sharing!
A mighty fine one this is. Feeling extra scuzzy already.
Hi kbd, it is Doncaster not Donchester a shithole of a town in South Yorkshire but they had a great venue called The Outlook all the early punk bands played including Sex Pistols in 76, this lp is one of the best of those city sampler albums that were popular in the late 70’s.
